Layla turned 1 last month and is she a little spark!  Tiny but mighty!  We had fun at Ashley and Matt's house for her 1 year session, including a little smash the cake fun!  Nothing like a 1 year old digging into a cake uninhibited!  So glad to have had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family once again! I LOVE this family and I LOVE their home.  It is a photographers dream. Well lit and just totally kid friendly.  That's what I love about these photos.  It represents this family so well.  Loving, cuddling, playing and more.  Lots and lots of Love!

Stephanie and Drew | Engaged | Iowa Engagement Photographer

Stephanie and Drew have a strong connection to the lakes area so it made perfect sense to have their engagement session there.  35 years ago they first met while in Kindergarten. While they won't claim that's where they first fell in love, when they reconnected a couple years ago it was natural and easy, the love that they had for each other.  They have been together ever since!  There was no denying their love here.  I love being able to capture that.

That brings up a good point about my style of photography.  While a close-up straight on face/smiling shot is great to have I strive to catch 'special' moments.  A moment when she giggles because he is whispering in her ear, a moment right after a kiss, a moment when they think I am not looking.  That relays a true emotion and a connection.  The connection between these two is electric :)

I cannot wait for Stephanie and Drew's wedding next year.

Photographers often talk about moments and how they capture them! Well this session is an example of those important moments in life!  It's like we bottled up a day that they can keep forever! I got a little emotional thinking about this because it hit me,  I was capturing a very special moment .  A moment where a family who is soon to be 4 is still 3…  Those moments when your baby is still your one and only baby!  That's special! 

I had so much fun with these three! So much fun that I might just show up on their doorstep again sometime so we can play in their awesomely amazing backyard!   Seriously! That backyard is the bomb!  Thank you Soper family for allowing me to capture moments...
